Music Ministry

Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing praises!”

Psalm 98:4 ESV

The Chancel Choir leads the 11:00 a.m. traditional service each Sunday, singing in a variety of styles. The Chancel Choir also leads special services throughout the year and performs concerts and major works, including A Christmas Festival in December.

Singing in the choir are volunteers from the congregation and community. Many singers find choir to be a place where their gifts can be fully explored and where each person is known and celebrated. Choir is not only a place where worship and music making happen, but is a space for friendship and welcome.

Please contact Neal Figueroa, Director of Music, via the form below for more information regarding joining the choir.

As a space for alternative music styles, the praise band provides church members with the opportunity to lead worship at First Pres. Young and old, new members and lifelong members— the contemporary service is a space where we can celebrate the joy we find in God. All types of instruments are welcome!

Rehearsals: Thursdays 7:00 – 8:30 (August to June; Summer rehearsals vary)

Leading worship alongside the praise band in the contemporary service, the praise team lifts their voices to lead the congregation in joyful song.

In rehearsals, the first hour is vocal rehearsal. Then, after break, the praise team joins the band to rehearse together.

Do I need to know how to read music?

No! You will need a good ear, however. Rehearsals are part learning new music and part class voice. Reading music is taught at rehearsals.

Rehearsals: Thursdays, 7:00 – 8:30 (August to June)

Our Youth Band is for young instrumentalists that wish to hone their talents and help lead others in worship. This group will help lead at youth events and on occasion in the contemporary service.

These individuals work in the background for services and events to ensure that we have sound, lights, and projections. We have a need for sound board operators, camera operators, and slide technicians to run projections during worship.
